Distritto12: A Shopify Store Rebuilt Around Its Customers

The Client

Distritto12 sells online through Shopify.

Distritto12 came to TRODAD to customize and optimize that store — a brief covering how it looks, how it works for the shopper, how it performs, and whether it aligns with the brand behind it. Those are the four questions that decide whether an online store earns its traffic.

The Challenge

Distritto12 came to TRODAD to customize and optimize the store across four fronts at once: visual appeal, user experience, brand alignment, and performance.

Those four are usually commissioned as separate projects. In practice they are one, because on a storefront they are the same set of decisions viewed from four angles: a layout choice is simultaneously a visual choice, a usability choice, a brand choice and a performance choice.

Treating them separately produces the familiar patchwork — a designer skins the homepage, an app is installed to fix a conversion problem, someone else compresses the images, and each fix makes the next one harder. So we scoped the work as a single revamp rather than a sequence of patches.

The Approach

We treated the four goals as one system with one dependency order.

Experience first. Before styling anything, the work was on how a shopper moves through the store — how they find a product, and what they need to see before adding it to a cart. UX decisions constrain visual ones, so they get made first.

Mobile as the primary case, not the adaptation. Most e-commerce traffic arrives on a phone, but a great deal of e-commerce design is still done at desktop width and then squeezed. Mobile responsiveness was treated as a core requirement of every layout decision rather than a checklist item at the end.

Brand aesthetics applied consistently. Not a homepage treatment — a coherent aesthetic carried across product pages, collection pages, cart and checkout, so the store reads as one thing rather than a well-designed front door onto a generic interior.

Performance and SEO built in. Speed and search visibility were part of the build rather than a remediation phase afterwards, which is by far the cheaper way to get either.

The Build

The result was a full Shopify revamp covering UX design, mobile responsiveness, functionality, SEO and consistent brand aesthetics.

Working within Shopify is a particular discipline. You are building inside someone else's platform, with its conventions and its constraints, and the temptation is to fight it — to bolt on apps until the store does something the platform did not intend, and to accept the loading time that follows. The better path is to use the platform's strengths properly and reserve customization for the places where it genuinely changes the shopping experience.

The SEO work followed the same logic. On an e-commerce store, search visibility is mostly structural: how collections and products are organised, how pages are titled and described, and how quickly the page becomes usable. Those are build decisions, not an add-on service.

The same is true of mobile. Responsiveness is often described as a feature, as though a site either has it or does not. In practice it is a hundred small judgements — what collapses, what stays, what order things fall into, which touch target is large enough for a thumb — and each of them is made either deliberately or by default. Making them deliberately across the full purchase path is most of the difference between a store that merely works on a phone and one that sells on it.

Work of this kind benefits from short feedback loops, which is why TRODAD runs projects through a client portal — order tracking, direct chat with the team, and billing in one place, with all design and source files released on approval. On a revamp touching this many surfaces at once, the economics are stark: a direction corrected early costs a conversation, and the same correction late costs a rebuild.

The Results

As published in TRODAD's portfolio, the revamp delivered increased online sales, higher customer engagement, and stronger brand visibility.

There is a further outcome that is easy to overlook and often the most telling: the relationship continues. TRODAD provides ongoing support to Distritto12. A store is not a thing you finish — catalogues change, platforms update, and what converted last year drifts. The projects that keep performing are the ones where somebody is still paying attention.

That continuity is also the honest measure of a build. A client who comes back is telling you something a launch-day screenshot cannot.

Work With Us

If your store started on a theme and has outgrown it — slow, generic, or simply not the brand you have since become — this is the shape of the project. More examples are in our case studies.
